  • My love for hats came at a young age.

My mum is an amazing dressmaker, so being surrounded my textiles and craft has been with me my entire life. Mum also learnt millinery and has passed on the skills that I use today.

Traditionally made hats, using age old shaping techniques, hand stitching and leather work is what creates these beautiful pieces.

  • My artistic practice in the past few years has been influenced by the isolation of lockdown and global environmental crisis as well as personal narratives of loss and belonging. I am always concerned with the complexities of interpersonal attachments and a lot of my work relates my own experiences navigating connection, romance, love, and the subsequent heartbreak on both personal and global landscapes.

At the moment, I’m super inspired by gothic and catholic iconography as well as Mexican arts, in particular the concepts of Ex- voto {tiny offerings placed before a saint when seeking to bring about recovery, ward off disease or prevent calamity or where the worshiper wishes to give thanks for such occurrences}.

I have developed a deep appreciation for ornate and elaborate depictions of the feminine and sacredness; the more embellished the better! I have been finding creating decorative work in this repetitive, mimetic way soothing in the face of external turmoil.

  • At The Trove & the road less troved we specialise in sourcing unique and hard to find antique and vintage pieces. We seek out iconic objects that appeal to people who are looking for something “a little bit different” to decorate their home or adorn themselves.

The concept of reusing, renewing and repurposing is part of our business philosophy. Our collection is eclectic but thoughtfully selected and curated. We gather items on our travels from around the world and within Australia.

  • I have been a maker, painter & drawer all of my life. I have taught at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. I have exhibited nationally and internationally. I studied at the city art institute in Sydney and Canberra School of Art.

I rely on my life experiences to inform my work. A migrant child, I was born in Holland. I was schooled in the Australian Irish Catholic tradition and have travelled extensively.

I work intuitively and attempt to let the material lead me rather than impose consciously. I love exploring and pushing my own creative boundaries in whatever field I’m working in at the time.
